Casio WatchJul 14, 2008

I have had the watch about a month now and like it very much. Have had a few comments on how nice it looks. The "digital sweep seconds" feature is very cool. I love the brushed look of the metal. the crystal has stayed scratch free so far. The digital display could be a little larger but that is a function of 51 year old eyes needing reading glasses. Overall I am very happy with my new watch and feel it is a great value.

Solid PerformerJul 01, 2009

The watch is a great buy for the price. You won't go wrong purchasing this one.
The size is just right and presents itself very well and comfortable on the wrist.
The time has been very accurate. The watch has many features, perhaps too many like the split stopwatch feature which is very complicated.
The flashing seconds around the face is a casio classic. You'll like seeing the marks clear after each full minute. This reminds me of earlier casio models that had flashing seconds bar on the display.
It would be nice if the LCD number display was larger. The countdown timer is a nice feature and there are multiple alarms. It is too bad that the watch has a "Mineral" = Plastic crown. I hope this doesn't scratch easily. The watch is made in China...I would have preferred it was made in Japan as they used to be.
There is a blue version of the watch offered on Amazon that may look sharper than the black. The stainless steel band is so much nicer than the rubber ones casio watches usually have. The watch looks much better than in the picture.
Setting the watch features are a little complex and need the manual. However, isn't that part of the fun?
Hint: Find the manual on the casio web site so you can actually read it. The manual that comes with the watch has too small print.
This is a great everyday watch at very reasonable price.

Good but not GreatMay 20, 2011
By RML I've used this watch for the past few weeks or so. It's a bit heavy, due mainly to the metal band. And it's a bit large. I'm medium build and it is defintely large on my wrist. It does have some neat features. I love the chime on the hour. And it does a have interesting way to display the ticking of the seconds around the perimeter of the watch. But I find the face a little hard to read. The hour and minute hands get lost in the clutter of the dark face, two displays and the same-colored and sized hourly tick marks. Also, the watch crystal gives off glare, and you need to angle the watch a bit to see it in bright sunlight. The hour and minute hands do glow in the dark, but I've noticed that effect goes away very quickly, and doesn't work at all if the watch hasn't been exposed to outdoor light (apparently) to charge it. There is a light on the watch, and it's fine. The digital display is small and both of the displays are covered and hard to read if even one of the hands move in front of it. The outer 15-30-45-60 ring is interesting but useless -- at least, I don't understand its value -- it doesn't rotate or anything. And you do need to pound the pins out of the "chinks" in the watch band with a small hammer and fine nail (or whatever the appropriate jeweler's tool is) to shrink the size of the band to fit your wrist. It's not hard to do once you understand how to do it. Overall, okay. If I had seen it in a store and tried it out beforehand, I probably would not have bought it.

Elegant, sporty, functional, dress and/or casual and affordable!Sep 16, 2011
By Anis Y. Jiwani From time to time I get an urge to buy a watch, I was going through the phase and decided to get one. This is the first time I am buying any watch below the $100 mark, my current favourite is a Tissot PRS 516 Automatic which I had bought a decade ago for $500. I had no intention of spending that kind of money on a watch now. My criteria for a watch and challenge to myself was to buy a watch for under $50.
The inspiration came from an interview of Steven Spielberg who admitted that his favourite watch was a Casio and that he could afford to buy one every month to replace the one on the wrist. If Steven Spielberg could do it why can't I do it too. I thought to myself that I must have been a stupid fool having owned an Omega Speedmaster in the past (which I eventually sold). If I could buy a watch under $50 I could very well replace it every few months and the cycle could repeat itself. It would be fun buying a watch every now and then and not worry about the pocket, breaking it or loosing it.
Here is what I was looking for:
Under $50. A quartz for accuracy. Had to have the traditional hands and not be just a digital readout.. It had to be a black dial (I like them and they are easy to read at a quick glance). Must be elegant to look at and not be gaudy like the G-Shocks. Have a unique feature that sets it apart from run of the mill watches. Must be water resistant to at least 50 meters. Had a light switch for in middle of the night viewing A multi-purpose watch (casual/dress) which one can wear with jeans or a suit depending on the occasion. That meant a bracelet instead of the typical resin strap which I certainly do not like.
This watch fit the bill not just perfectly based on all the above requirements but was one step ahead in some aspects. I you have the same criteria for a watch that I had, you could very well consider it and not waste time looking around. I am very happy with my purchase.
Above is not just my initial impression but my final impression as well. I am not one of those who like to discuss about durability of a watch when it actually cost under $35, I could say that for a Tissot and rightly so as it is still serving me after a decade but not for this one. If it lasts me even a few months (which I am pretty sure it will) it would be worth every penny I spent on it, and I would be back looking for another one similar to this.
