4Nice Watch, needs a better bandFeb 27, 2008
By Daniel Hoenisch
I really love these watches. I have owned two now. I purchased the first one because it's a sports watch, and I am an active person. It si also very light weight. The problem is, I only got two years out of the band. When looking for a new band, I found only one website that had it, and it was only a couple of dollars cheaper than buying a whole new watch. I liked the watch so much, I purchased a second one. Again, the band only lasted two years. I wish they had a longer lasting band than this, especially since it's supposed to be a sports watch. At this point, watch #3 will be the forester with the metal band.

5Nice WatchOct 08, 2008

I've been wearing this type of watch (Casio Analog-Digital Forester Illuminator) for over ten years. They last for about three years and then the digital display starts to fade away (even with new batteries). The Forester works well everywhere from winter camping in the mountains to summer hiking in the desert. The push button illuminator is very handy in the middle of the night and the dual time zone feature is helpful when traveling. The watch can take a lot of abuse and still keep perfect time.

34 Stars, But...Jan 05, 2010
By Robert Kenyon
I have had this watch for over five years now. It is still on the same band and batteries...the band is not doing too well though (frayed and broken on both ends-though still wearable). The good: a very nice looking watch, light weight, very reliable, keeps time well (no problems to note), and waterproof. The bad: the watch designers really disappointed me with two things. To be honest, I don't know what in the world the engineers were thinking: 1) when you illuminate the watch, only the analogue illuminates. So...if you are in the dark, there is no way you are going to set or see the alarm (or to check if the alarm is active) or any digital features. I can't tell you how many times this has complicated things when I was in the FOREST or backcountry! By the way, I like the name of the watch, but this watch is, in my opinion, NOT for the outdoors person; as soon as I finish this review I am probably going to order a Casio g-shock off Amazon. Issue #2) Again, someone please tell me what they were thinking?!?!?! The stopwatch only counts for 1 hour! Hello?!?! So..OK, on my "Forester" watch, I am only going to hike one hour from camp or drive one hour from home? What good is a 1 hour timer? I mean, I can cook eggs with it-I guess. Maybe if you are an out of shape runner the 1 hour will be helpful for you (and if you ARE a runner you should probably buy yourself a Casio runners watch, as this band does not fare all too well for the active [it will smell too]. So...those 2 issues irked me enough to give it 3 stars. Is it a good watch, I would say yeah. Is it a watch for the active person?...mmmmmm...I don't think so. I think it is a great casual wear watch though (jeans and whatever). By the way, I have small wrists and this watch fits nicely-no problems there.

Now, as a final closing point I would like to give some respect to Casio. I have owned about 6 Timex watches over the course of my life and 2 Casio's (and one Eddie Bauer, but who knows who makes that watch). All 6 Timex watches broke WAY too quickly (Timex junk). Both my Casio's were/are as reliable as anything. I will never buy another Timex watch as long as I live. Thanks Casio for not selling me trash, you have earned a customer for life (as long as you continue to keep quality control up). Thanks!

3Ok Watch...If Not Worn In Summertime.May 25, 2012
By Bill
I like this watch for its off-brown color design. Only problem(s): When wearing it in warm humid months, I find myself having to reset it when traveling in outdoor heat and humidity due to loss of minutes. This began to happen right after the return-to-store and warranty expired. There is something about hot weather that slows the accuracy. Also when resetting the watch and you inadvertantly go way pass the intended minute, you can't back up. You have to go forward 12 hours to get back to the intended time-set. Quite frustrating! Initially, I really wanted a digital watch designed with the exact same color which allows for a replaceable watch band (something nearly impossible to find with a digital watch until recently). However, I did recently, see such a watch in the new Casio W89HB-5AV Digital Watch with the same off-brown design. Hopefully, it will maintain year-round accuracy...and not just during cooler months.
