Beware Casio WarrantyDec 22, 2009
By Andrew Mcalister I've owned several G-Shocks, and liked them all. After a few months of owning this one, though, the case broke at the base of one of the pins. I didn't even know these things COULD break.
So I sent it back to Casio for a repair estimate, and they quoted me a $35 repair even though the watch was still under warranty. When I asked why, I was told they cover only the module--the timekeeping guts of the watch--not the case or band. They didn't imply that I'd mistreated the watch (which was good, because I hadn't); they just told me no G-Shock is covered for the case falling apart.
I found this shocking. People buy G-Shocks because of their ridiculous durability--but according to Casio, if you buy one and it crumbles on the way to your car, well, tough. In other words, they make no good faith effort to ensure customers get what they think they're getting. Pretty shockingly cynical from a company I had previously respected.
I felt the only proper response was to vow never to buy their products again, and spread the word about what I think is a truly arrogant policy. I wrote them and told them so. If they change their ways, I'll be back as a customer. In the meantime, if you're buying a G-Shock because it's a tough watch, remember: it better be, because if you get a bum one, you're on your own.

They could have done this watch a good deal better.Nov 06, 2009
By Outtha Wazoo The features of the watch are great, dual time was just what I was looking for since I am an "analog" guy. I'm old school so I tell time quickly by glancing at the hands but I use my watch as an alarm clock so like it's digital features.
The bad part is the chrystal must be made out of some form of transparent cheese or really cheap soft plastic cause it has scratches and pock marks in it from which it should have withstood. I mean it wasn't abused but the lens just can't take much and it's a shame cause it is a great watch.
The hands on the watch are adjusted with a forward and a reverse button and unfortunately the reverse button quit working in about 6 months from new.
You see it is a great watch except for these shortcomings. I love the subtle blue face and it's features but I wish they would have put a little more quality in it's components.

great work watchJun 03, 2007

I love this watch.... I use it mostly for work and it can sure take a beating. The time zones features are great, and it has other useful features. Very light, and it isn't nearly as bulky as some of the other casio watches.
The things I don't like: The cities listed are somewhat not what you would expect for some of the European countries (with the time zone feature). For someone who travels extensively, you have to be thinking. You also have no short cut for your home city like my other watch with world time zones. A lot of the cities I travel to aren't listed, so you have to look at the time difference or make sure the city listed is in the zone you want...The timer only counts down from an hour, in my job I need to keep track of flight times so we know how long until landing, so that is useless. On the other hand you can use the timer alarm and easy resets for working out..... My biggest dissapointment was with the strap replacements. I had to go to Germany to find an actual velcro strap to replace the rubber one that was scratching the inside of my wrist. I cannot believe that in this day and age when everyone can customize almost every item purchased online, I had such a hard time with that.
All in all, I am very happy with the purchase, but it took a while of getting it exactly how I wanted it. Plus the fact that the analog and digital times are synchronized is really nice..... Good luck!
great watchMay 01, 2012
By jennyt I ordered this watch for my husband. he absolutely loves it. he wears it every day. at work, at home at the beach, at the gym, in the ocean, the shower, just simply all the time. I have the feeling that this watch will outlast any other watch. it s great.
As strong as weakest componentMar 03, 2012
By Utilizing User Can this watch survive G-forces: yes Will it still be attached to your hand: not likely
Within 3 weeks of receiving this watch the case snapped where the pins connect the watchband to the case. This happened when I blocked a 2x4 from falling on me and although the impact was on my arm and had 0 contact with the watch, the reverberating forces in my arm was enough to shake and brake the case. I made a temporary 2 year fix by sliding the pins back where they were supposed to stay and carefully injecting resin where the pin had peeled through the case and glued the band to the case as a safety. This only works as a one time fix and can't be done more than once. At the end of those 2 years the metal buckle on the watch band broke and I can't do much with this watch other than not wear it. Like all things, this watch is only as strong as its weakest component, which is apparently the pin connection, not very strong. This watch is about as G proof as putting on a bullet proof vest makes someone bullet proof.
Its disappointing but I will say that electronically, the watch has never failed and the case can take a beating, but the watchband won't. changing the watch band wouldn't fix the problem due to the pin connection flaw.
