Fantastic watch - lousy band buckle.Oct 23, 2006
By AtomicMan All the features are great. Everything I expected it would be. The buckle needs work though. The band flexes during normal wear resulting in the retaining band sliding up and not holding the end of the band down. So the end of the band ends up sticking out and catching on shirt and/or coat sleeves. Annoying.

Great watch, terrible bandAug 25, 2008

This is a big watch! Not terribly heavy for its size. Great features. Everything works perfectly. You will have to read the instruction manual because some of the features are not very intuitive.
The band, however, is a totally different story. The band would get 0 stars on its own. It is a cheap, rubberized/plastic band. This watch retails for $260. The band must cost Casio all of 10 cents. It is certainly possible to make a quality rubber watch band. I have a Citizen dive watch with a rubber band that is fantastic. Every Casio watch I have ever owned, and there have been several, had the same issue with a cheap band. Not only is it cheap, but I'm certain it will not last very long before it rips and has to be replaced. Not only that, but the free end of the strap is constantly coming out of the sliding loop that's supposed to keep it in place. Again, I've had this same problem with previously owned Casios. Other companies solve this problem by using thicker strap material, or using a different plastic/rubber composite material that has a higher coefficient of friction.
Overall, great watch, great features, terrible band, that is deficient in every regard. And worse yet, you can't change the band for one that might be more to your liking. I would definitely suggest handling this watch, wearing it, etc., before plopping down your hard earned cash.

RedlegApr 13, 2008
By Kevin Karr Bought this watch for use while deployed to Iraq. I wasn't disappointed at all. This watch is everything it's advertised to be. It's a bit large, but you get used to it. Everything functions perfectly. The only issue I've had with this watch is the loop that keeps the extra strap (past the buckle) in place. The loop will not stay in place! I fixed the situation by anchoring the loop in place with some dental floss. After this "redneck" fix, the watch is perfect. I highly recommend this watch, you won't be disappointed.

Good alternative to more expensive makers.Jan 03, 2007
By Christopher Byrd This a less expensive way to have the features of that on a Suunto or Tissot.
The PAW1200-1V is more subtle in styling than previous models, very sleek and professional while being rugged looking at the same time. The ability to charge through Solar is pretty convenient. The Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer, and Compass, all seem accurate - after having to initially calibrate 3 of the 4 features.
I cannot comment on the wave receptor, as there is no reception in Afghanistan...
The watch is rather large. The Alarm could be louder, most would not be able to depend on it to wake them up. The band retainer could use some work, as the band seems to constantly slip out.
Great watch, and feel satisfied owning it.

Casio PAW1200-1V PathfinderNov 10, 2006
By John Noon The watch is everything that the discription said it is. It keeps time automatically and adjusts for Daylight Savings Time. It is very rugged so far, as I have dropped it and beat it up while working on various projects. The band is comfortable and doesn't absorb water or any solvents that I use. The features are easy to use and pretty accurate, especially direction, I haven't gotten a false reading yet. The watch is still fairly new so we'll see how it holds up to the test of time.
