Loved it--until I jumped in the waterJun 23, 2011
By dp I had this watch for 1.5 years and loved every aspect of it. Then I jumped into one meter of water and it has since retained moisture on the crystal, though rated to 100 meters. I presume this is a manufacturing defect. However, Watch Zone only covers one year warranty on Hamilton (not a certified dealer) and will not repair. Hamilton has not returned my inquiries about honoring their standard two year warranty. Buyer beware.

good automatic watchAug 17, 2010

"watchcrazy"
This is a nice automatic watch with ETA 2824 movement. Watchgems delivered quickly and I'm quite happy with the service. This watch gains ~12 secs/day which is what you would expect for an automatic watch out of the box. The dial is highly visible and lets you tell time at a glance.
As a side note: I have a 12-year old Hamilton Khaki field watch (9721b) with the same movement. The movement in the older watch was better finished, and the rotor was polished. The movement of the new Hamilton looks less refined which is a little bit disappointing. Otherwise I really like this watch.
Disappointing product, worse serviceApr 05, 2012
By jwallac2 Loved the watch when I first received it; it worked well, looked good, and was very comfortable and easy to read. The problems started when I went swimming. Swimming, not diving or other watersports. The watch is rated water resistant to 100 meters, but after a swim, condensation was clearly visible in the watch. I returned it to Watch Warehouse who said that it had a broken crown, they repaired it and returned it to me. All was well until I reached into my fountain to pull out some leaves. Even with an exposure to water of less than one minute, the watch again filled with moisture. This time Watch Warehouse said that water damage was not covered and charged me $95. Either the watch design is unable to keep out water or this particular watch is defective and Watch Warehouse is unwilling to back up its product. Hamilton's warranty does not exclude water damage, so any buyers might want to buy only from a Hamilton authorized supplier to avoid the disappointment of a sports watch which cannot tolerate any water around it.
My favorite (of many!)Oct 14, 2011
By RedR I have waaaaay too many watches. I certainly did not need this one, but I was attracted to the old-school no-nonsense military style and I wasn't disappointed. The build quality is excellent, and the styling is just plain and simple--which in my opinion equals "beautiful" in this day of ridiculously sized watches with bells and whistles all over them. Mine came with the leather strap, which I found to be great looking but a bit short for my 7.25" wrist. So I ordered the metal bracelet, and that pushed it into my "favorite daily wearer" category. I absolutely love this watch. I find myself wearing it all the time, even though I have Omegas, Tags, and many other nice luxury and mid-range brands in my watch box. The size is probably considered "small" these days at 38mm....although 20 years ago this would have been a mid-sized to large watch...comparable mens military watches were normally in the 31-32mm range! But I am 6' 2" and 250 lbs and this thing does not look small on me. It stands out nicely as a no-nonsense piece I can wear just about anywhere. The dial is as black as outer space and the lume is excellent. This is probably the most legible watch I own...just a quick glance is all you need....there is nothing busy about the dial. The accuracy is about average for an ETA 2824-2 movement, which is to say it loses (or gains) a few seconds a month...not an issue for me. This is the go-to watch I pick when I look in my watch box and my head starts spinning from too many choices! Time to start selling some of my watches I guess....but this one's a keeper!
Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic Watch ReviewMar 06, 2011
By Robin B. Weber Love the watch. I don't like battery powered watches, so this automatic movement is perfect. The only exception I take is about the see-through back, but other than that......it's great.
