Description:

The easy-to-read Luminox Men’s Black Ops watch glows 100 times brighter than other luminous watches, making it the perfect timepiece for low-light or non-light situations. This timepiece is constructed with a stainless steel, 50-millimeter case, a durable stainless steel band with fold-over clasp and safety mechanism, and an antireflective-sapphire dial window, perfect for late-night escapades. White Arabic numerals adorn the classic black dial face, while the black stainless steel bezel is unidirectional, textured, and adorned with white minute indexes for easy readability. Smaller white numbers inside the dial mark the standard 24-hour clock and a date calendar rests at the three o'clock position. Powered by analog-quartz movement, this watch is preferred by US Navy SEALs and US Air Force Pilots, and is water resistant to a depth of 660 feet.

I really like this watch.

I'll start with the one negative I've noticed, and the reason why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5.

As a few other reviews I've read have mentioned, it has some pointy edges on the back of the case that can dig into my wrist. If I wear this watch for long periods I notice myself unsnapping the band to get a little relief from the case digging in.

Aside from the one negative I really do like this watch. I find it easy to set. It keeps accurate time, based on comparisons with a Casio atomic watch.

While I don't go diving, I have had it in water, and it hasn't been phased.

It's got a sturdy feel. The ratcheting bezel is taut, without being hard to operate. It's easy to set. The crown turns easily without feeling like it's going to fall off in my hand.

I'm a fan of the all black look. Black dial, black case, black band.

I compare it quite favorably to my Citizen Black Eagle Nighthawk, but the luminox can be read in the dark.

The absolute best feature to me, is the fact that the hour markers glow without the need to push any buttons. It's just a quick glance at the watch and the time is easily readable in any light conditions. No need to free up my other hand to push a button in low light or dark conditions.

I'd call the Luminox 6402 a definite winner.

This watch is big and heavy and you will know you are wearing it without a doubt. If you prefer a lighter watch, stay away from this one. The crown is big and can tend to dig into your hand from time to time. I have been wearing it for a week and am getting used to the feel, still though I doubt it will ever be as comfortable as the seiko dive watch it is replacing.

The watch is heavy, well built and has a solid feel. The crown and back case are screw-down so although not tested yet, I assume leaking will not be an issue during recreational diving. The bezel racthet action is very precise and accurate, it will not turn on its own (something that my seiko would do). Needless to say this watch is very easy to read at a glance in any lighting situation. I can also say I am pleasantly surprised at the accuracy, it has not lost / gained a second in 5 days.

I have had no problems with the points on the back, they are average, if you do simply don't wear the watch so tight. This is one of my favorite watches, it has a good heavy solid feel to it, no larger than a Swiss Army Marerick 2 watch. Changing this size of the braclet is no problem, I did it myself in under 5 minutes with a sizing kit. The only real problem with this watch is that the black finish is easly scratched off, this is true of all black metal watches.

4Excellent watch...Dec 28, 2006

This watch is big (46mm not including the crown), but fits well on my 6 3/4" wrist. I've worn it jogging for 5 miles without a problem. 10 year battery, sapphire crystal, 12 hour bezel (great for traveling in multiple time zones), outstanding lume at night - overall, I'm very happy with it.

However, I deducted one star because the bracelet is extremely difficult to adjust. I usually adjust my own, but took this to a professional - and it took him, with his assistant, 40 minutes to shorten! Even so, he damaged a link removing it. But other than that, great balance, great lume, and I love the bezel (the rotating part around the watch face, for those who aren't watch freaks).

I decided to wait for a couple of months of use before providing a review of the Luminox 6402 EVO F-117 Watch. I have worn Seikos for 30 years, but I was wanting a replacement watch that I could easily read in the dark in bed without putting on my glasses - on that front the Luminox delivers extremely well. The face and time is very easy to read without being overly bright (too bright being a nagging concern/worry when reviewing opinions about Luminox products pre-purchase). I am generally satisfied with the quality of build, but must agree with other commentators who find the second-hand not perfectly lining up with the minute hash-marks a bit disconcerting. However, the overall package has allowed me to see past that negative attribute. The watch has been very durable so far, no water penetration, a solid metal feel whose black finish has yet to wear or scratch, along with a(yet)unscratched crystal and despite my typical smacking of the watch face into a variety of walls, metal objects, etc. The Luminox keeps decent time, having gained about 5 seconds since I reset it 6 weeks ago with the "fall back" to standard time. I can say that at this juncture I do not miss my 10 year-old Seiko diving style watch that has now been passed down to my teenaged son.
