Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.
It was at the 1986 Basel Fair that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, high performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially available watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).
In 1998, Kinetic Auto Relay was released, extending the 'at-rest' operating period of the watch to a remarkable 4 years. 1999 saw the launch of the Ultimate Kinetic Chronograph, a masterpiece which fused the very best of SEIKO's mechanical and electronic watch making skills, and in 2003 another Kinetic Chronograph was launched. At Baselworld 2005, the Kinetic Perpetual made its first appearance, combining Kinetic convenience and longevity with a perpetual calendar, correct to the year 2100. In 2007, SEIKO's emotional technology Kinetic Direct Drive is introduced.

Very Nice ProductAug 28, 2007
By John Unekis I purchesed this watch for myself because I was intrigued by the kinetic energy and not having to buy batteries and with the styling and price of this particular model. I looked at most of the Seiko kinetic models available and was won over by the SKA348. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it if looking for a kinetic watch.

Great watch that is comfortable to wearDec 24, 2009
By Jee Chung I got this watch at a Seiko dealer after returning an SKA387, because SK387 was too heavy and bulky for me. Originally, I considered an SKA347 (all stainless steel model) but was won over the by the elegant looks of the two-tone SKA348. The watch is a lot more handsome in real life than photos depict. It is also relatively light and comfortable to wear even for ones with thin wrist as myself. Overall an excellent value.
Pros: - Kinetic movement never needs batteries - Comfortable to wear - Elegant styling - High-contrast dial is very easy to read - Great lume
Cons: - The date window is a bit small - The Kinetic generator makes a small amount of noise which can easily be heard in even modestly quiet surrounding. Some may be bothered by this.

Perfect Watch!Apr 09, 2010
By mythic1 This is an extremely handsome and comfortable watch. It has no distractions on its face so it's effortless to catch the time with a quick glance. Its charcoal background and gold number setting are nicely contrasted and its hands and number positions illuminate in the dark. It is solid, a good weight, has a nice feel and snaps securely with a safety catch. It's a tad loose on my wrist but I've gotten used to that; I'm sure if I'd taken out a link it would be too snug. I picked this watch for its good looks, sound engineering and because it was self-winding. I am very pleased with its cost, the seller, its quick delivery, but most of all it gives me the sense of a well-crafted piece of art. So as I think about it there's much more to this watch than just keeping the correct time.

Gorgeous watchJan 22, 2010
By L. Griffin Purchased as a gift. He loves it. Since he rarely partakes in deep-sea diving, we appreciate that this is a basic, classic, and absolutely beautiful watch. You can never go wrong with Seiko.

Amazing PurchaseFeb 25, 2009
By Scout This watch is AMAZING. IT HAS A VERY POLISHED LOOK TO IT. I purchased this for my boyfriend (successful business man) as a birthday present. I can't tell you how excited I am to see his face when he opens his watch. My ordering experience for this product was perfect. Hands down a watch to purchase for someone that means a lot to you and works in the professional arena. They will love it!
