Durable, stylish watchDec 05, 2005
By B. Faler I've had this watch for a year now, and overall, I am satisfied with its performance. First, it is very durable. There are some scratches on the case and band from what I consider normal wear-and-tear, but the saphire face is flawless. There have been times when I've accidentally smacked the watch face against something while walking and thought for certain that it would leave a mark. Nope, nothing. Second, it is very accurate. I've compared it with the atomic clock a couple of times when I reset the date and found that it lost a second or two at the most over a month's time. Finally, it has, in my opinion, a good balance of style and technology. Now for the cons. If you have hairy arms, be prepared for a couple of weeks of constant hair pulling whenever the watch slides on your arm. This will eventually subside as the watch plucks out the longer hairs on the side of your wrist. Finally, I would prefer that the watch had a perpetual calender so that I did not have to correct it at the end of the months with less than 31 days.

Outstanding purchaseJul 26, 2005
By J. Hopkinson You know guys, you get to the point in your life when it's time to invest in a really good watch. Sure you have a casual watch and a Timex with velcro for the gym. But you've also had just-above-cheesy department store watches by Fossil or something in the $50-$100 range that are just "OK".
Well, I decided I wanted to take the next step. I wasn't about to drop $1000 or more. For me, that's just a waste of money. But the step up in quality you get when going from the $70-on-sale-for-$55 range to the $500-on-sale-for-$289 range is amazing. First of all, you can FEEL it. From the moment you pick it up, this watch has a little heft to it. It's not gawdy huge or heavy, but it's SOLID. Secondly, you can SEE it. Go to a business meeting, on a date, or to a wedding, and people KNOW that you've got a decent watch. It's not flashy, but timeless.
In the year or more that I've had it, it has performed flawlessly. It fits well, it's clean and easy to read, it's classy and simple so hopefully won't go out of style for several years (if ever). Plus, for the gadget guy in me, it's got the auto relay function, where it 'catches up to itself' once it's been put down for a certain amount of time.
Go ahead. Buy it. You won't regret it. I didn't.

Fantastic watchJul 23, 2005
By D. Ralston I had originally gone to the department store to look at watches and picked this one from all the others. It was on sale for 25% off of $525. I thought I would check the internet to see if that was a good price. When I found it here for 289 (no tax or shipping fees) I ordred it. I never used to wear a watch, but now I wear this one everyday. It looks and feels great, and the fact that it will never need a battery is a big bonus. I highly recommend this watch.

Outstanding Value in a Personal TimepieceMar 07, 2007
By David M. Garrett The Seiko SNG043 Arctura auto-relay kinetic is a great value in a timepiece. Silver hands and marks contrasted against a cobalt-blue face make for quick recognition and reading. The second hand precisely aligns with each minute-mark. The contemporary band is conservative yet stylish, making a smooth, continuous transition to the face. The sapphire crystal fits flush. The push-button clasp is secure and easy to operate. This watch is not dainty but not onerous in weight. No miscellaneous - and generally useless features here. Hour-Minute-Second hands and numeric date give you the essentials. Great knowing no battery is, or will ever need to be included. I acquired this watch to sub for an 8-year-old Seiko kinetic (which, while cosmetically rather beaten still keeps accurate time) that will be relegated to camping trips and lawn work.

Seiko Arctura Kinetic Auto Relay Is An Excellent WatchJan 20, 2007
By Teacher
"Bob L."
For the record, I have been wearing a Seiko watch since 1977. This watch is designed for at least twenty or thirty years of constant use too.
Craftsmanship is excellent. The case, crystal, and band are all top-of-the-line in terms of quality as well as fit and finish.
This watch is extremely easy to synch to the second. After 30 days of use it is still within a second of accuracy.
People with small wrists and hands may have fitting issues. The watch's case extends beyond the crystal. If you have a small wrist it may be difficult to get a good fit. The stainless steel case has some heft to it too.
As advertised, it is easy to read the time in the dark because the glow-in-the-dark dots are very bright. The face is easy to read with my 50 plus year old eyes.
As other reviewers have said, this watch is in a different class than $100 or less watches. It is built for a life time of use.
