I bought this watch back in 1982 while I was on my first deployment with the U.S. Navy. I bought another one 18 months later while on my second deployment and mailed the first one to my mother. My mother still wears hers every day and so did I until a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I took it to a watch repair shop because water was fogging up the crystal. I also decided to have it cleaned (for the first time) and it hasn't worked right since. Mine still has the original band. Nobody could believe how old that watch was.
Being in the Navy for 20 years, having a watch that keeps accurate time was very important. My watch was always within a couple of seconds of the ship's official time.
We both had a good laugh when I was going through some old paperwork from my early Navy days and I came across the 3 year warranty paperwork for the watches.
I HIGHLY recommend this watch to anyone who wants a trouble-free watch that keeps accurate time and looks great with whatever you wear. I plan to buy another one and I'm sure that it will last me another 20 years.

Seiko watches in my opinion are just about perfect. I only gave it 4 stars because I figure there are some thousand dollar watches that are probably better! But if you're like me and want a watch that will last a very long time with a timeless style, this is the watch for you. It is very comfortable to wear, and looks very classy. I have had mine for several years and other than an occasional battery, it runs perfectly and has caused me no problems at all. I love Seiko watches and for this price, you won't be disappointed.

Acknowledging recommendation from the Seiko website, I purchased this watch through Amazon from an authorized dealer in Ohio.It arrived within 3 days, & I was pleased to find it even better looking than pictured.
Two weeks after I began wearing the watch, I began to experience random failures of the clasp, i.e., it became difficult to latch & would periodically open by itself. I took it to my local jewler who worked on it but was unable to fix it. I checked the warrenty & found that it "does not cover the watch band made of a material other than metal..."
Since mine is metal, I contacted the retailer in hopes of resolving the problem. The retailer suggested I contact Seiko, but warned they might not cover the clasp.
Bottom line, I had to pay Seiko another $25 + shipping for a new clasp & another $10 to have my jewler put it on.

Purchased this watch 12/7/2009 and gave it to my wife for Christmas present and on 2/1/2010 it died..........I took the watch to a mall and had a new battery installed just in case but it still will not work so I'll send it back to Seiko and hopefully it will be repaired..........this was an exact replacement of a watch I gave my wife 25 years ago that worked like a charm up until a couple of months before Christmas so I'm hoping I purchased a legitmate Seiko and not a cheap knockoff!!! I'm sending back to Seiko and will update this if it's repaired timely with no problems!
They repaired the watch no problems and it's still working great.........as of 11/11/11
