Affordable, durable, light and full of featuresOct 30, 2005
By Jeff It took a while for Timex to come out with a new Ironman watch that would turn me back from my Casio G-Shock. This one caught my eye.
It has a bright white LCD display which far out-shines the Casio, 3 alarm types (daily, weekdays and weekends - an intelligent arrangement), 3 time zones, stopwatch, a backward timer and an appointment reminder (with preset appointment names to choose from such as, "birthday").
This watch offers plenty of surprises - aside from offering you the features listed above, it actually offers you the ability to turn them off. What this means is you can remove the appointment reminder or the 3rd alarm type (for example) from the mode cycle.
The Indiglo lighting was another surprise. At first, in regular indoor lighting, I thought Indiglo wasn't working. It wasn't until I brought the watch into a darker room that I could see why. All the digital watches I've seen light the face with a blueish hue - but this new breed of Ironman lights up just the digits themselves in a negative orange-on-black appearance. The effect isn't nearly as bright as the "flashlight" typical LCD's project but it does allow you to read the time... and is probably one of the ways Timex managed to get a 6 year battery life out of these models.
All in all, a nice find - and finding it at Amazon for 27% off was even nicer!

Great Watch, Nice PriceApr 28, 2008

I bought the Timex 5E931 Ironman from Amazon about a month ago, after researching several Timex and Casio watches. So far, I've been very pleased with it.
I've previously had two Casio G-Shock watches which were indeed indestructible (except for the black plastic bits around the face, and the little loop for the band). My main problem with the G-Shocks was their thickness which would cause them to catch when putting on a shirt or jacket.
This Timex is much more attractive and comfortable to wear. The contrasting dark blue and silver colors and reasonable size give it a classy look. And it feels much lighter on my wrist. The large display is very easy to read. My only minor cosmetic complaint is the tiny orange "M" on the face which seems a little goofy (but I think all Ironman watches have something like that).
I've been impressed with the accuracy of the watch which only gains about a second per week (about four times better than my Casios). I use the stopwatch feature for timing a variety of things at work and at home.
For $[...] at Amazon (with free shipping) it's a great bargain.

Watch is OK If You Can Wear ItOct 11, 2008
By Ward N The watch is fine, but the watchband is resin (plastic) and like others I have owned, break within a year or so from normal flexing. Mine did and I cannot find a replacement band in stores or online. Thus 2 stars because the watch works, the band doesn't.

LOVE this watch - suitable for scubaJan 19, 2009

I have this watch in sort of a mid-green color, and I've beat it to death. Runs like a top, does everything I need. Plus, I'm a scuba diver and have had it at depths of up to 110 feet fairly often without problems. It really IS water resistant.
True, the watchband dies pretty quickly, but I found several places to buy a replacement for an average price of $12...one is a sports outlet with three initials in the name - the 18th letter of the alphabet, the 5th, and the ninth. I've had mine for over a year and the battery's still going, but admittedly you probably do have to take it to a jeweler to have it replaced.
Good luck!

Not same as description!Dec 14, 2011
By jsugden2 I bought this watch for my husband for Christmas, because it said it came with the FLIX system. I even chatted with an Amazon rep to confirm this. He assured me that yes, it certainly does have FLIX! It came in the mail today - surprise surprise- it doesn't have FLIX. I'm sure it's a good watch, as my husband has always had Timex Ironman watches and loves them- just beware of the item description.
