Great watch for the moneyOct 20, 2009
By Paul E. Hyde
"volfan"
This watch has worked out to be what I was looking for. I like a digital watch which is easy to read and includes the ability to see at night. This watch has a lot of flexability and allows you to organize how many different time zones you want to display. If you dont need three, then you can turn one or two off. Same with the other options, if you dont need them right now, you can turn them off so you dont have to scroll through all the alternatives. The Indiglo function is great for night vision. The size of the numbers is good for me to see easily and the buttons are organized and labeled well to see which function to use. And the velcro watch band is great. That is almost my favorite part of this watch.

Great watch!Dec 11, 2007
By Luis Rebolledo I was looking for a sports watch to do exercises and one where the strap fix and this was a good solution. It's my first Timex sport watch and I'm happy with the features.

No FLIX as advertisedJul 23, 2010
By D. Coffman
"go gators"
There is no FLIX feature as shown in the photo and as written in the description: "This watch incorporates the Timex Flix system, which activates the Indiglo night-light with a simple flick of your wrist. To activate FLIX, put the watch into Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button 3 seconds until it beeps. With the watch in Night-Mode, a forward "flick" of the wrist with a sharp "stop" will activate the Indiglo night-light for three seconds." Instead, what you get is the Indiglo with a "Night Mode" feature that allows ANY button push to turn on the Indiglo. Of course, you can turn this feature off if you wish such that only the Indiglo button activates the light.
I'm buying this watch because I lost my last one while surfing. Yes, I shouldn't have worn it but I wasn't planning on surfing when I walked into the Gulf of Mexico. That's the downside of the velcro band...sand or dirt can get in the strap and weaken it. The right kind of bump or sticking to other fabrics can cause the watch to fall off. Still, I like the comfort & ease of putting on & taking off.
This is probably my 3rd or 4th Ironman watch. I typically replace it every 4 years or so once the band wears out. It's not much more to buy a whole new watch with the latest features than it is to simply get a new band.
Overall, a good watch for running & daily wear. I rated it a 3 purely because of Amazon's misrepresentation of what you get. You'd think this would be fixed by now since other comments indicate this problem.

Don't fear, (this) IronMan is here!Aug 09, 2011
By Aaron Dev A few notes is all that's really needed:
I was reluctant to get this one because I'd never had this kind of strap before. Now, I'm frankly curious why they're not more common. Velcro is so much simpler to use and smoother on the skin. You don't have to worry about the little holes fitting. You're going to get closest-to-perfect fit this way.
In terms of the head, its as though its become an extension of my hand. I forget its there most of the time. It doesn't stick out in a major way. And in fact the first few weeks I had it the only extra attention others had was when I'd take a moment to admire it to myself. The display is VERY clear (more so than any Fossil, Nike, or Casio I've had in the past) and the functions are all straightforward. There's maybe 2minutes to set up and then you're good to go. Most of all, there are never any requirements to 'stop and hold two buttons' or anything complicated. To reset, you have to have read maybe 45words in the manual to be an expert. Its got 3 alarms which is more than enough to make up for a lack of snooze.
A bonus is of course the nightlight. You're buying this watch because you want an IronMan kind of watch but without all the extra gizmos that go with a higher end, higher price tagged one, right? Well, the nightlight seems to have been kept from the higher models. Really, I'm not one for hyperbole but none of the similarly priced Casio I tried out at my local sports store came anywhere close .
The only detraction I can offer is that your wrist does get a bit sweaty underneath it. But I've never not had that with a watch. The build quality makes up for it - its so tiny you can fold it quickly up into a pocket without much change to the shape of your clothing. And if you're worried of odor, don't be. Although I had that problem with a previous Fossil, this one's smell is only contained to your wrist at nose-to-joint distance. No one else would notice.
Overall, I'd really recommend it. In addition, just as a personal aside - a former marine whose a friend of mine noticed the strap and asked me to try it on and subsequently really likes it. While he's from Vietnam so maybe his judgement's going (=) this may be a gift idea for someone?

Watch face could have been biggerDec 16, 2009
By P. Carlisle Exactly what I expected I have had many of this style watch. One problem the face on this watch is smaller than the older styles so the numbers arnt quite as big other than that good watch.
