5Great Swiss Made Quartz WatchApr 15, 2010
By LenGlen
This review is virtually identical to the one I wrote for the blue version of this watch. The watches are identical except for the color of the watch face.

There is nothing not to like about this watch. From the moment you take it out of the box you will know it is a quality timepiece. All parts are machined to fine tolerances. Most of it is brush polished so it will not show scratches as much, but part of the bezel has just enough fine polish to accent it's beauty and design. The watch has a solid feel and the heft of stainless steel so you know it can take some real punishment. The sapphire crystal is thick, solid, and crystal clear. The magnifying cyclops is underneath the crystal so there is no bump to mar the smooth surface of the crystal. The unidirectional rotating bezel has 120 clicks and rotates firmly with a very satisfying resistance. This Swiss Army Divemaster is rated to 500 meters WR, which is 300 meters more than most dive watches. It is one of the few watches you can feel comfortable with for real diving. The watch does NOT have an exhibition back. Of course, being a true diver, it has a screw-down crown.

The bracelet is made of solid stainless steel links connected with friction pins. It has solid end links. It has a diver's extension. It also has the capacity for minor length adjustments by movement of a small pin in the clasp. The clasp is a dependable deployant model with locking clasp. The metal of the deployant mechanism is heavy and solid, not thin stamped metal like that used in cheaper watches. The hands and the hour markers are coated with a substance that is nicely illuminated in the dark after exposure to light. The lume is quite nice. Much better than many other watches I have tried, though not quite up to the standards of the Seiko Monster. Finally, this watch keeps great time. What more would you expect from a Swiss Made quartz movement? The watch is comfortable, reasonably priced, built like a tank, yet sized just right for an average person, and looks great. These are, by far, among the best quartz watches I have ever had the pleasure of owning.

It is unfortunate that another reviewer had the experience of receiving one example of a manufacturing defect. The entire line should not be judged by one example. As far as I know such experiences are rare, and until they increase in frequency, my opinion of the brand and model will remain intact.

5Exceptional Value!Mar 02, 2012
By David
This is an extraordinary watch for the money, It honestly rivals my Omega Seamaster 300 (blue bond quartz) at 1/5th of the price. The dial is very easy on the eyes, the case and bracelet are very solid and of high quality. Sapphire crystal is what sold me on this watch as I also have a Citizen at0660-56e that I absolutly love but scratched the crap out of the more inferior mineral crystal. The only negatives are that the watch will take a little getting used to because of the weight and height, and the polished bits on the bezel tend to scratch, but can easily be buffed out with some wadding polish. I highly recommend this product and believe that it is on par with some of the other premium brand quartz divers like Omega's Seamaster, Tag Heuer's Aquaracer at a fraction of the price. And I must apologize to the Seiko Monster enthusiasts, that watch can't be compared to this one in any way (inferior build quality, crystal, Water resistance) on top of that the Seikos are just butt ugly compared to these.

5good watchFeb 07, 2011
By Thomas
Watch came super fast from seller, arrived just as described. I saw this watch at an retail store, and took a good look at it. After closely reviewing the time piece i decided that i had to have it. I was not going to spent full retail on it, so i checked amazon. Found it at almost 50% less then retail and went ahead and bought it. I absolutely love it, perfect fit, easy to size and durable as can be. This will be my new work watch. It will get beat on, but im confident it will stand up to it. I own many watches, and can safely say its build to high quality standards.

1DisappointedNov 30, 2009
By The Mayor
I was very disapppointed after receiving the Victorinox Swiss Army Men's Dive Master 500 Watch.

After receiving the watch from an Amazon.com vendor I opened the box, read the instructions and unscrewed the crown/stem to set the time and date. When screwing down the crown the mechanism broke and the hands on the watch face just spun around everytime I moved the stem.

The one thing I would say is that Victorinox Swiss Army is a great company. They stood behind the product, took ownership of my problem and my "brand new" watch was repaired and returned to me in two weeks. During the course of the repair process I was told by Victorinox Swiss Army that Amazon.com was not an authorized seller of Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces.

All-in-all, a very disappointing experience. I probably won't buy something this expensive from Amazon.com again.

5Incredible WatchMay 24, 2012

I've had my eye on adding a Dive Master to my collection for a few months, and since receiving it I am certainly not disappointed. The watch is ruggedly stylish and very well finished, and Victorinox are known for their quality pieces. The watch is definitely not for the smaller wearer - it is large, thick and heavy, but it looks great on a larger wrist and you become accustomed to the weight in no time.

I had high expectations of this watch, which have all be easily exceeded. This has quickly become my everyday watch. You can wear it with peace of mind knowing that it is phenomenally well constructed with no apparent fragility or weak points.

I couldn't recommend it strongly enough.
