5This is a solid, well made, timepiece.Sep 04, 2009
By Zoot Allors
I've had a few other dive watches. This one is my current favorite. It isn't small, the face and case are actually the same measurements as my seiko monster dive watch. But it is much thinner and lighter than that seiko. I like the black face with the black bezel, good combination and somehow makes the face of the watch seem larger and the case of the watch look smaller. I have the stainless steel band which is also very sturdy and has a secure fastener. The luminosity on the hands and face is strong and lasts a good length of time, the dot on the bezel dot is small and not as visible. I haven't been diving with this watch yet, I use it for a daily wearer, it seems well built enough and is nice enough looking to wear around for most activities and in the office. I may still use one of my other watches for diving and keep this one for more water surface activities, boating fishing etc. One other nice feature, the case and band is a brushed stainless finish so isn't shiny and reflective in bright sunlight. A nice subtle feature. I like this watch alot and it will be getting the most wear and use of the dozen or so watches that I now have.

5Outstanding Watch!Jun 06, 2011
By TomPF
I researched hundreds of watches before settling on this one, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I have very small arms, and this one was a tad smaller than others in the "dive watch" category. I took out four removable links (the most I could) and it fits beautifully. The stainless case and band are nice and solid. The saphire crystal is bright and clear. Markers are large and the face is clear and easy to read for older eyes. It has a diver's band with an extra inch extension on it to get it over a wetsuit, and I don't remember seeing that in the product description. Another feature I love is that the screw-down crown is totally shrouded by the nice high shoulders around it. I have nothing bad to say about this watch. Classy enough to wear as dress watch and rugged enough for everyday wear. This replaces my Rolex, and I am not disappointed in the least. Buy it! You won't be disappointed!

5Excellent Quality & Rugged Diver's watch...........Mar 14, 2011
By The Federalist "Watches4Me"
I purchased the Batallion III directly from Amazon for [...] delivered. The listing says that it's the Batallion II, but it's not. It's the newer & updated Batallion III model. I've been wearing my new Batallion III Diver's watch now for over 3 days and I love this watch very much.
The lume on it is excellent. The luminous material that's contained on the hands and on the hour markers on the Batallion III is called Super Luminova. The hands on the watch stay very bright all the time, even when the watch is worn in the dark for many hours without any exposure to light. The hour markers are also bright, but not as bright as the hands are. But you can also see and make out the hour markers without any problem when the watch is exposed to darkness for many hours. I believe that the hands have "more" Super Luminova glow material on them than the hour markers and that's why the hands are much brighter than the hour markers.
The case of the watch is made from 100% stainless steel. The Batallion III has a rotating elapsed time bezel on it. The rotating bezel is made from stainless steel and it's very sturdy. It's not loose unlike some other diver's watches in the same price range like this particular model watch. The Batallion III has a domed "sapphire coated" crystal which makes it very rugged and also scratch resistant. The Batallion III also has a screw down crown for a water resistance depth of 200 meters/660'ft.. The rotating screw down crown feels very high quality and it doesn't feel loose like a twig like some other diver's watches. The crown is easy to unscrew and it screws very securely on to the watch case.
The band on the watch is a stainless steel "oyster" clasp style band with a diver's extension on it. I wear my Batallion III 24/7 and I never take it off my wrist. The metal band doesn't have solid links. It has "hollow" links in it. I can honestly tell you that the metal watch band on the Batallion III feels very comfortable on my wrist. The Batallion III in my opinion, is an excellent quality watch. It feels very sturdy and very rugged. It's also Swiss made and contains an ETA Swiss quartz movement inside it. Overall, I love this watch very much. It feels very sturdy, very rugged and very well built. I recommend this watch to anybody who is looking for an affordable high quality Swiss Made diver's watch.

4Good Value With a Few FlawsAug 03, 2011
By Mark E. Sandblade "random noise"
This is a solid timepiece for this price point. The accuracy is good, and it only loses a few seconds a month which is average for any quartz watch. The case is extremely well made and the flanges around the crown are a nice touch that keeps the crown from jabbing your wrist when your wrist is bent. The crown is easy to unwind and set. The hands and luminescence are very visible. I bought this watch from Amazon at $105. I think this is great value at this price point. The MSRP is $225 and if I had paid that I'd be a little disappointed.

My major gripe with this watch is the cheap bracelet. I almost wished they had tacked another $50 to the price and given me a better bracelet. They use the term hollow links. What this means is that they took stamped metal then bent it to form the 3D shape of the links like a cardboard box. While wearing it you can't tell that it's stamped metal, but you can feel how light it is. I'm not sure what this means for it's long term durability. The clasp is also stamped metal and feels flimsy and cheap. I believe repeated opening and closing will eventually wear out the ability of the clasp to stay closed. I don't know that for a fact since I haven't had it longer than a month. Time will tell and I may be surprised, but really why make such a beautiful case and not give it a bracelet of matching quality? The bezel is my other main gripe. It's very thin and feels like it's made of plastic (I can't tell if it is or isn't). It's extremely difficult to turn, because I can't get a good grip on it. I have small fingers. If you have large fingers I imagine it would be even worse. I use my bezel all the time. If you don't care about using the bezel, then this is a non-issue. My last complaint is the marketing term sapphire coated crystal. What on earth does that mean? Did they spray-on sapphire on top of a mineral crystal? The crystal is nice and so far durable, just call it what it is, a nice mineral crystal.

From all my downers you'd think I hate this watch. Not true. For a little over $100 it's one of the best watches you can get. Amazon's price seems to fluctuate on a daily basis from $100- $150 so wait for it dip. This isn't the kind of watch you'll hand down to your children, but it will be a nice watch to wear for a decade or two.

Update One Month Later:
So far watch is keeping excellent time. I have two scratches in the crystal for whatever that's worth. The crystal is a dome rather than recessed below the bezel. So if the watch contacts something the crystal is the first thing to get hit. I'm very hard on watches, so this doesn't surprise me. If you're more careful, you might have better luck. Also I have a small dent in the bezel which makes me believe it's made of aluminum rather than plastic. The bezel has broken in and is much easier to turn. However the thinness of the bezel still makes it impossible to turn without leaving thumbprints on the crystal. I agree with other reviewers and wish the black dial background had some texture in it, so it would be glare a little less. However that is a very very minor gripe.
